Sol Mamakwa is working to strengthen Ontario by standing up for Indigenous rights, improving health care in the North, and fighting for economic justice in remote and underserved communities.

Sol was born in the Sioux Lookout Zone Hospital and raised in Kingfisher Lake First Nation, where he continues to speak the language and engage in traditional practices. As MPP for Kiiwetinoong and Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition, he brings deep community knowledge and advocacy to Queen’s Park.

Sol serves as Shadow Minister for Indigenous and Treaty Relations and Northern Economic Development and Growth. Before his election, he worked as a health transformation lead for Nishnawbe Aski Nation and held leadership roles with the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority.

Sol is a powerful advocate for improved access to health care, clean water, housing, and mental health supports in Northern and Indigenous communities — and uses every platform to call out systemic injustice and demand meaningful change.
